I have a 27" iMac and the font is too tiny to ready without zooming the screen. There is no way to increase the size of the font so I can only give it 1 star. You left out a critical and necessary feature, font size adjustment.
this is a piece of crap. you type in keywords and no search results show up whatsoever. its pretty much a useless app on which the developer puts ads for their other priced apps. SCAM.
Great Idea - I wish there was more mac apps that displayed content from there respective sites. The app does what it says (displaying wikipedia articles on your desktop). I wish it did it in a more thoughtful way that leveraged macOs X systme services more. The design and the application could be better with 1. ability to toggle the side bar pane 2 easier way to control the font size ( for example pinch to zoom) 3 cache articles for off-line viewing (like iOs app client Wikipanion) and creating citations for export into essays. 4.system wide facebook and twitter sharing. 5.location services (articles about things in my immediate area) 6.tab browsing 7.other wikis supported 8. a better launch screen with a search box 9.multipy and user preference language support. 10.remove the ‘search text’ from under the ‘search text’ box things that I and alot of other people would pay for...
This app is absolutely useless :(
On OS X 10.9.5 the app mostly works for me and is worth its price. Watch out for the two search boxes, you use the one on the left to search for articles and the one at the upper right to search within articles. The UI is a bit clunky but the ability to easily search within articles is appreciated. To change the font size, set the desired size in the Preferences and refresh the article (but see below). You can also set the translation(s) of Wikipedia you like to use. Wikipedia pages are rendered as expected including tables and images. There are a few bugs however: • preferences are not remembered between runs • history is not remembered • the “Pictures" slideshow crashes • the toolbar is a non-standard implementation and can’t be switched off or edited
I was expecting this to be capable of downlading the entire Wikipedia database so I could have offline access to Wikipedia. Unfortunately, that’s not what this does. This is simply another way of accessing the Wikipedia website; it requires an Internet connection for any search. To me, the only reason to use a Mac app for Wikipedia is offline access. Otherwise, I can just as easily use Safari, especially with DuckDuckGo’s search shortcuts. What it can do, it does well. It’s just lacking the most important feature of a Wikipedia Mac app; Offline Access.
